  • I was sponsored by my organization for an 11 night's stay which was followed by 8 night's of personal stay with my spouse. June-July is considered to be the busiest season for Montreal, and the prices were too high for me to afford for the later half of my stay, but I loved where I was staying. A friendly discussion with the management was able to get the a discounted price which was affordable and probably one of the lowest one can get in a Montreal 4 star. I highly recommend this place for a luxurious stay, friendly / customer service oriented staff and management.

THIS IS A EXCERPT FROM MY RECENT LETTER OF COMPLAINT: I stayed at the Montreal Marriott Chateau Champlain for three nights last month. At the time of check out on Sunday, 5/29, I had a significant amount of Canadian money remaining. Being from the U.S., I no longer needed this. I put the remaining Canadian cash, approximately $114 toward my hotel room charges. This amounted to approximately $114 and change. The woman at the front desk applied the cash and put the remaining balance on my MasterCard. These transactions are properly reflected on my hotel receipt. When I returned home, the following day I saw the charge for the hotel room, minus the cash I paid; however, there was also an additional charge of $118 and change. I immediately called the front desk to ask what the additional charge was for. I was informed that the charge was for the remaining balance that my cash payment was intended to cover ($118 reflects the Canada/U.S. exchange rate). I explained that I had already paid that amount in cash, which was reflected on my receipt. The woman I spoke with confirmed that she saw the cash payment reflected on her record as well, but that there was nothing she could do except to notify her supervisor. I was informed I would receive a phone call that evening. Two days later, after not receiving the promised phone call, I called again. This time, I spoke to another woman who again confirmed all the above information, but said that she has to check with her accounting department to determine whether their cash balances are over. In my opinion, whether the hotel is over or not is beside the point. This hotel double charged me for a cash payment already transacted and recorded in both mine and their records. Whether that cash made it to its proper place is the hotel’s internal problem. Perhaps they have an employee who lacks integrity. I checked out at approximately 11:30 am and it was a small, blonde female who handled the transaction. I’m sure there is a record of who was working that morning. The hotel can investigate her, if it wishes. However the hotel chooses to handle the issue internally, I, as the wronged customer, expect the over-charge to be reimbursed. After my most recent phone call, I was again told that I would receive a phone call within a few days. It has been nearly a week and I have not received any such phone call, nor has my money been reimbursed. I have my receipt, as well as my bank statement, which clearly reflects my cash payment and the hotel's erroneous additional charge.
